”Talking Head”

Description

This digital puppet was made to perform an ad read. It animates in a manner akin to a traditional paper doll. It’s composed of a body, neck, head, face, and hair in three parts: Top, sides, and loose strands at the top. Many parts are linked to follow movements so they can pivot off of other parts while following their movements. Examples of this are the neck and head, and the sides of the hair. This allows the whole system to move without breaking. The rest of the movements were done by hand essentially. The mouth was a seperate composition tied to the head,  and the talking was done by remapping the time of that seperate composition so different positions played. After that, it was a matter of listening and matching to the audio, trying to include movements that felt natural to the script and recording, then the sympathetic motion of the hair and such.
